Author Norma Khouri won fame and fortune with her book Honor Lost : Love and Death in Modern-Day Jordan (originally published as Forbidden Love, Bantam Books 2003), a “true story” about a shocking honor killing in Jordan. The book was a runaway best-seller and became the toast of the literary world - until July 2004, when esteemed Sydney Morning Herald journalist Malcolm Knox exposed her book as a work of fiction, and her protagonist, a figment of her imagination.

Forbidden Lie$ documentary filmmaker Anna Broinowski attempts to sort fact from fiction by speaking with both the author and her vehemently vocal detractors who believe Khouri made up her biographical tale of a Muslim friend who was killed for dating a Christian.
