Reel Conversation: Forbidden Lie$

By Wallingford Pub... - Posted on 13 March 2013

Saturday, March 23rd at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Room

Part 2 in a new series focusing on film and conversation. Hosted by Brooks Appelbaum.

Author Norma Khouri won fame and fortune with her book Honor Lost : Love and Death in Modern-Day Jordan (originally published as Forbidden Love, Bantam Books 2003), a “true story” about a shocking honor killing in Jordan. The book was a runaway best-seller and became the toast of the literary world - until July 2004, when esteemed Sydney Morning Herald journalist Malcolm Knox exposed her book as a work of fiction, and her protagonist, a figment of her imagination.

Forbidden Lie$ documentary filmmaker Anna Broinowski attempts to sort fact from fiction by speaking with both the author and her vehemently vocal detractors who believe Khouri made up her biographical tale of a Muslim friend who was killed for dating a Christian.

Please join us to view the film and discuss what really happened. Everyone is welcome!
