cover of A Ship in the HarborThe story continues: Julian Padowicz is back with his new book: A Ship in the Harbor, sequel to his memoir, Mother and Me: Escape from Warsaw 1939 (Academy 2006). A Ship in the Harbor picks up where Mother and Me ends, as Yulian and his mother, dressed as peasants, limp into Budapest’s posh Bristol Hotel, thinking themselves safe. What they had not figured on was that Hungary was a Nazi-sympathizing country and the exhausted Barbara had allowed herself to brag to a Hungarian border security officer that, when they arrived in America, she would write a book exposing Nazi and Soviet brutalities. What ensues is a game of hide and seek as Barbara and Yulian try to stay one step ahead of the authorities.

Books will be available for purchase and signing at the conclusion of his talk.
