Book Discussion : The Road by Cormac McCarthy

By Wallingford Pub... - Posted on 25 November 2008

Wallingford Public Library with cooperation from the Connecticut Humanities Council is pleased to announce a book discussion of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize winner for fiction, Cormac McCarthy’s novel The Road on Thursday, December 11th in the library’s Charlotte Collins Meeting Room at 7:00 p.m.

Published in 2006, The Road is the story of a father and son who journey across a desolate landscape in post apocalyptic America. Their destination is the coast, although they don’t know what, if anything, awaits them there. Through the bleakest of circumstances and with no guarantee of salvation, the father's enduring concern for the welfare of his son is constant. The Road is an unflinching meditation on the worst and the best that humans are capable of from ultimate destructiveness to desperate tenacity and the tenderness that keeps two people alive in the face of total devastation.

Books are available from the library’s Information Desk. All are welcome. Please register in person, online, or by phone at (203)265-6754.
