2011 Early Childhood Education and Information Fair

Saturday, January 22nd, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the Community Room

Families with young children are invited to come to the Library to meet representatives of Wallingford’s licensed preschools, childcare centers, and town agencies that offer programs for young children. This is a fun way to gather the information you need to make the important choices for your child’s future. The program is free and open to all families.

Holiday Closing

The Library will be closed on Monday, January 17th in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Regular hours resume Tuesday, January 18th.

Wallingford, CT USA and Wallingford, Oxfordshire England: Forty Years with Our Namesake Town

On display through January 31, 2011

Take a walk down the Library’s main hallway and peer through the windows to our Connecticut Collection located near our front door. A special display presented by the Wallingford Historical Society features commemorative items, including prints, flags, plates, gifts, photos, and books, from over 40 years of exchanges between the two towns.

Friday Night Flicks Presents: Dinner For Schmucks

Friday, January 14th at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room

Dinner for Schmucks movie posterDinner for Schmucks tells the story of Tim, a guy on the verge of having it all. The only thing standing between him and total career success is finding the perfect guest to bring to his boss' annual Dinner for Extraordinary People, an event where the winner of the evening brings the most eccentric character as his guest. Enter Barry, a guy with a passion for dressing mice up in tiny outfits to recreate great works of art. Rated PG-13.

Events for Friday, January 7th Canceled

Due to inclement weather, Family Night and Friday Night Flicks scheduled for January 7th have been canceled.

The Book Seller will close at noon.

Eshu Bumpus: Stories from Around the World

Friday, January 14th at 7:00 p.m. in the Children’s Library

Relax by the fire while you listen to nationally acclaimed master storyteller Eshu Bumpus weave magical stories from around the world. His stories are mysterious, musical and always leave you wishing for more!

The Fireside Storytelling Series is free and open to children ages families with children ages 5 and up and all those who appreciate the art of storytelling. This series is possible thanks to a generous donation from Barbara Kennedy Shortell, a longtime library supporter and former Wallingford English teacher.
