Mystery Book Club Cancelled

The Mystery Book Club scheduled for this afternoon, Wednesday, November 7th, has been cancelled. It will be held at a future date.

Mother Daughter Book Club

Wednesday, November 7th, 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Collins Room

All teen girls in grades 6-12 as well as their mothers or other adult female friends are invited to the kickoff meeting for the 2012-2013 season! Meet other members and discuss books you have read recently. We will work collaboratively to pick books for future meetings. The Wallingford Public Library Mother Daughter Book Club is the oldest in Connecticut. Be a part of it! Please contact the Information Desk for more details.

Local Author Showcase

Saturday, November 10th in the Community Room

We are celebrating local authors and their books at our Local Author Showcase. Local authors, please register the day of the event beginning at 10:00 a.m. Limited slots available. Each registered author will have the opportunity to present their book and sell copies to the public. The public is invited to meet local authors, hear excerpts of original works, and purchase signed books. Doors open to public at 11:00 a.m. and the event concludes at 1:00 p.m.

Holiday Closing

The Library will be closed on Monday, November 12th in observance of Veterans Day. Regular hours resume Tuesday, November 13th.

Science for Everyone! Meet Author Loree Griffin Burns

Friday, November 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room
Free tickets available in the Children’s Library
For children K and up and their grownups

Please join us as we welcome Loree Griffin Burns, distinguished writer of science books for kids.

Ms. Burns will offer and interactive program that will open young minds to the idea of science!

She is the author of Citizen Scientists, The Hive Detectives, and Tracking Trash, and books will be available for purchase at the program. Ms. Burns will be happy to autograph books following the program. This is a great way for kids to become more involved in the science all around them.

Single Stream Recycling Made Simple

Monday, November 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room

Learn the ins and outs of single stream recycling.

  • “Can plastic bags from the grocery store go in my bin?”
  • “What about pizza boxes?”

These and other questions will be answered following a short video that shows how all these materials are separated at the recycling facility. This program is presented with assistance from the Town’s Recycling Committee. Please register online or by phone at (203)265-6754.
