Friday Night Flicks Presents: Rise of the Guardians

Friday, May 10th at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room

This film tells the story of a group of heroes, each with extraordinary abilities. When an evil spirit known as Pitch lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children all over the world. Rated PG.

Abraham Lincoln: The Life of an American President

Tuesday, May 14th at 7:00 p.m. in the Collins Room

David Koch, Associate Professor of History at Housatonic Community College will explore the personality of our 16th president, a powerful but surprisingly enigmatic figure in American history. Learn about Lincoln’s childhood, professional career and political ambitions at this informative lecture.

The Yalesville Branch will be closed for painting and repairs May 15th-22nd. Regular hours resume Thursday, May 23rd.

Program is open to the public from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Here’s your opportunity to meet and hear local authors talk about what inspired them to write and how they got published. Autographed copies of books will be available for purchase at the conclusion of the program!

Film and Filmmaker: The Wrong Bin

Wednesday, May 8th at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room

Emmy-nominated filmmaker Krishnan Vasudevan joins us to view his film and learn about the environmental and economic costs of recycling incorrectly. The Wrong Bin explores trash in NYC, where 36% of what is sent to landfills is recyclable. The lessons learned in New York can be applied anywhere. Come see this film about what is happening in our neighbor state, and join in a discussion about the solutions with the filmmaker. This program is cosponsored by the Wallingford Recyclers.

Welcome To Our New Head of Children's Services

Sunnie LovelacePlease welcome Sunnie Lovelace, our new Head of Children's Services. Before coming to Wallingford, Sunnie was Manager of the Youth Services or "Young Minds" Department at the New Haven Free Public Library. There she provided direction and leadership in the areas of public programming, grant writing, collection development, community partnerships, and collaboration with the New Haven Public Schools.

Sunnie earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Gordon College in Wenham, MA, and a Masters of Information & Library Sciences from Southern Connecticut State University.
